What is Nutrition?

Carbohydrates, fibres, lipids, metabolism and hormonal regulation, toxicology, epidemiology, immunology, protein and amino acids, vitamins and minerals. All these and more relate to the nutritional requirements of all living beings.

Nutrition is the process of nourishing, by which organisms obtain energy (in the form of food) for growth, maintenance, and repair. All the processes involved in the taking in and utilization of food substances by which growth, repair, and maintenance of activities in the body as a whole or in any of its parts are accomplished. It includes ingestion, digestion, absorption, and metabolism. You can enhance the quality of life through better nutrition.

A certified dietician or certified nutritionist integrates and applies principles derived from nutrition, biochemistry, physiology, food management, and behavioural and social sciences to achieve and maintain people’s health.
