International Relations

What is International Relations ?

International Relations is the study of international systems of territorial states. It analyses the nature of this system — the rules and forces governing the behaviour of states, the factors that lead to military conflict or peaceful co-operation, and the current trends towards both a more integrated and a more fragmented world. When the Berlin Wall came down and the world wide web went up, we saw the advent of globalisation and an information led knowledge age. International Relations also developed a unique dimension with the emergence of the first generation of global citizens.

International politics is also a very important field of study in political science. It covers the foreign affairs of governments around the world, international organizations as well as international trade and human rights. It incorporates knowledge of international relations and security, such as armed conflicts and peace keeping, arms production and trade, military expenditure, armed forces and conventional weapons holding, nuclear weapons, chronology, statistics and other reference data.
