Good scholarship and fellowship programmes can change the trajectory of a student. These can build confidence, increase exposure, and give a better idea about what to expect in the job industry after passing certain courses.
Scholarship programmes from good companies, colleges or universities can be a blessing, especially for meritorious students who are facing a financial crunch and find it hard to pay the fees.
Here are some major scholarship and fellowship programmes in India you can apply to now:
1. HDFC Bank Parivartan’s COVID Crisis Support Scholarship Programme 2021
This scholarship programme aims to support students who have been through a COVID-led crisis continue their education.
Eligibility:
- Indian students who have either lost their parent(s)/earning members or whose earning family members have lost their employment (or livelihood) during the pandemic are eligible to apply.
- The applying students must be currently studying in Classes 1 to 12, or pursuing diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate level qualifications (including professional and non-professional programmes).
- They should be enrolled and continuing their education.
- Annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 6 lakh from all sources.
Prizes and rewards: Up to INR 75,000

2. IET India Scholarship Awards 2021
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is inviting applications from undergraduate engineering students to reward their creativity, innovation, leadership and excellence.
The scholarship aims to recognise and nurture future engineering leaders of India.
Eligibility:
- Open for students studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of a full-time regular undergraduate engineering programme (any specialisation) at an AICTE / UGC-approved institution.
- They must have cleared all regular credit courses in a single attempt. Applicants must have scored – at least 60% in aggregate or equivalent CGPA of at least 6.5 in a 10-point scale in the semesters cleared so far.
- Also, applicants must have obtained more than 60% marks or equivalent grades in Class 12 (or equivalent).

3. ISEC Bangalore Post-Doctoral Research Programme (PDRP) 2021
The Institute for Social Economic and Change, Bengaluru, is inviting applications for Post Doctoral Research Programme 2021 from PhD degree holders. This fellowship is for a maximum of 5 years.
Eligibility:
- The fellowship is open to candidates who have completed PhD during the last 10 years with at least two publications in referred National / International journals.

4. FIHFC Scholarship 2021-22
The Fullerton India Home Finance Company Ltd. invites scholarship applications from students of Classes 10 to 12 to provide them with financial support for their further studies.
The scholarship aims to help meritorious students coming from financially weaker sections of society.
Eligibility:
- The scholarship is open to students from Gujarat (Ahmedabad and Surat), Rajasthan (Jaipur), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), and Uttarakhand (Dehradun).
- They must be studying in Classes 10 to 12.
- The applicants must have scored more than 60% marks in their previous qualifying examinations.

5. Bihar Agricultural University SERB-DST Senior Research Fellowship 2021
Bihar Agricultural University SERB-DST Senior Research Fellowship 2021 is a research initiative for M.Sc. degree holders.
The selected candidate will be required to work on the project titled – ‘Host-shift Analysis of Mono and Bipartite Begomoviruses in Economically Important Crops’.
Eligibility:
- The fellowship is open to candidates who have an M.Sc. degree in Plant Pathology / Virology / Biotechnology / Plant Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Genetic Engineering / Microbiology alongside being NET / GATE qualified (ICAR, CSIR, DBT, UGC, etc.).

6. The Bhumi Fellowship 2021-22
Bhumi is inviting applications from young graduates between 20 and 30 years of age, and offering a two-year, non-residential fellowship to them for improving the quality of education in India.
The fellowship aims to create a cadre of changemakers who transform schools in the short-term and lead the next movement in education in the long-term.
Eligibility:
- The fellowship is open for final year students / graduates between 20 and 30 years of age.
- They must have past volunteering or work experience in any field.
- They should be passionate about transforming the education system with a willingness to commit to a two-year full-time fellowship.
Prizes and rewards: INR 18,000 per month and other benefits

7. COVID Crisis (Jyoti Prakash) Support Scholarship Programme 2021
COVID Crisis (Jyoti Prakash) Support Scholarship Programme aims to support children who are left vulnerable and with very little or no financial support for their further education owing to a COVID-led crisis in their family.
Eligibility:
- The scholarship is open to Indian students from Class 1 to graduation.
- Those who have been through any of the following crisis situation — loss of parent(s) / earning family member since January 2020 or loss of job / employment of an earning family member — can apply.
Prizes and rewards: Up to INR 30,000 per year and mentorship benefits

8. JNU School of Environmental Sciences Research Associateship 2021
The Jawaharlal Nehru University School of Environmental Sciences (SES) Junior Research Fellowship 2021 is an opportunity offered by JNU, New Delhi, to MSc degree holders.
The selected candidate will be working on the project entitled ‘Estimating Mass Balance of Glaciers in the Bhaga Basin, Western Himalaya using GPR and Remote Sensing Methods’.
Eligibility:
- The fellowship is open to candidates who hold an MSc degree in any branch of Environmental Sciences / Physical Sciences / Geology / Applied Geology / Chemistry / Biogeochemistry.
- They must have research experience in Glaciology, Remote sensing, and GIS with glacier field experience and field data collection and analysis.

9. IIT Gandhinagar Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2021
The fellowship is meant for the project titled, ‘Western Indian Glass: Mapping Kapadvanj’.
Eligibility:
- The fellowship is open for candidates below 35 years of age who hold MA and PhD degrees in Cultural Anthropology / Archaeology, with a good publication record.
- They are expected to be proficient in field research, data acquisition, and critical analysis alongside having excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The candidates must have specialisation in Ethnoarchaeology, Ancient Crafts, Pyro-technology, Ethnohistorical Methods, and Early Historic Medieval Archaeology.
- Besides, they must have independent fieldwork experience and good knowledge of Gujarati and Isotope Analysis.
