Job opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning have increased exponentially over the last few years. AI and ML have particularly become a business phenomenon as organisations seek to deliver enhanced services.
In a report, the World Economic Forum noted that AI-powered automation will generate 133 million new jobs globally by 2022. In India, as more and more overseas companies are coming to expand their business, the demand for professionals with relevant AI skills and knowledge is continuously climbing. According to Glassdoor, the average salary of an Artificial Intelligence professional in India is INR 5,20,631.
Here’s a look at the top open artificial intelligence jobs in India in December 2020.
1) NVIDIA
Location: Pune
Job Role: Senior System Software Engineer, Speech AI
Job Description: Candidates for this role at NVIDIA will be responsible for working with research and product teams to develop, build, fine-tune, and deploy speech neural networks across multiple platforms, as part of Conversational AI solutions. They will require to gather know-how on speech datasets and establish processes for speech data collection and data augmentation. They will develop and establish a training process, to train the speech neural networks towards targeted use cases and environments, and more.
Preferred Qualification: BE/B.Tech, ME/M.Tech (from reputed schools only) or Ph.D. is required. Hands-on experience in Speech Technologies like Automatic Speech Recognition, Speech Command detection, Text to Speech, Speaker Recognition and Identification, Noise Reduction Techniques, etc.
Good programming and scripting skills using C, C++, Python with strong software development, optimization, and analytical skills.
Strong background in Deep Learning that includes Data conditioning, Model design, Pruning and Performance Optimization, Transfer Learning, Deployment, etc., and more.
2) Telstra
Location: Bangalore
Job Role: Automation Head
Job Description: As an Automation Lead, a candidate will develop a world-class Intelligent Automation Centre of Excellence across the Telstra Global Business Services. Their mission is to own the strategy and deployment for Intelligent automation capability development & operational support for Telstra’s Digital workforce. An aspirant will also develop and evolve the GBS Innovation Intelligent Automation strategy for Intelligent automation, along with other responsibilities.
Preferred Qualification: At least 15 years of Experience in Software Engineer/Automation/Product Management Background. Experience in setting up capabilities in RPA, ML and AI or equivalent
Operations Delivery Experience. Driving opportunities across Business Units and closely working with Platform Teams.

3) IBM
Location: Bangalore
Job Role: AI Automation Engineer
Job Description: IBM is looking for Software Engineers to join an AIOps Team which will leverage AI to build solutions using open source and commercial technologies to prevent IT outages at scale. As an Automation Engineer in the Watson AIOps team, a candidate will be responsible for Develops test strategies, procedures and automated test cases based on a grounded understanding of client quality expectations. He/she will work within an agile development team in a dynamic fashion having the ability to upskill when needed. They also will require to foster a high-performing environment that enables teams to improve over time by doing things correctly, quickly and consistently.
Preferred Qualification: Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. 5+ years of software test experience with experience in Cloud-native testing tools and technologies.
Experience using Python/JavaScript/Java/Shell for automation, and working with Kubernetes/OpenShift Virtualisation. Experience in test frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, Cypress. Experience with multiple cloud services, including IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google. Knowledge of IT Operations space and Site reliability engineer job role an advantage.
4) AT&T
Location: Bangalore
Job Role: Technical Specialist, Azure AI/ML Platform
Job Description: Candidates will be responsible for collecting, moving, storing, and preparation of data infrastructure. They will manage and secure the flow of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources like ingest, egress, and transform data. They will also require to manage, monitor, and ensure the security and privacy of data to satisfy business needs.
Preferred Qualification: Typically requires a Bachelors’ or foreign equivalent degree in Computer science or Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of demonstrated IT experience supporting and troubleshooting enterprise-level, mission-critical applications resolving highly complex issues/situations and driving technical resolution across cross-functional organizations. At least 3+ yrs. of cloud experience.
At least 24 months of experience working as a Software Developer/Engineer using one or more of the following languages: Python, SQL, R, Java, Scala, and Spark.
Experience working with Azure cloud technologies and environments, Databricks Python/Scala/R Notebooks, and building, deploying, and managing applications within these environments, and more.
5) Amazon

Job Role: Principal AI/ML: Digital Innovation Prototyping Architect
Job Description: As part of an agile digital development team, an aspirant will support AWS customers to develop prototypes specific to their articulated strategic vision for new products and services. Amazon’s Digital prototyping team is a hands-on team of cross-functional developers supporting AWS customers to build rapid MVP experiments adapted to their specific, innovation-focused, use cases. The job will cover the India region and will require traveling to customer sites.
Preferred Qualification: 12+ years of professional experience in commercial or web-scale system software development and delivery. Proficiency in a modern programming language such as C#, Java, or Python
Experience in Data Science. Familiar with building secure software using modern security principles. Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment and more.

Design changes that schools will need in the post-Covid-19 world

Any crisis presents the opportunity to learn, cultivate compassion, and increase resilience while building a safer and more caring community.
As parents, we must have the right information on Covid-19, to diminish students’ fears and anxieties around the virus, as we all gear up to head back to school soon! Several considerations must be taken into account to maintain safe school operations, and if done correctly, it can promote emotional and physical well-being.
Educational institutes will, and must take corrective measures at all levels. Design standards can help schools and colleges maintain ideal social distancing norms to prevent the spread of the virus while allowing us to inch back as close to the true normal.
Here are the main changes we will see in schools in the post-Covid-19 world:
Administrative changes
- Working in shifts or staggering school timings will be beneficial. This can be enabled by allowing for batches at different hours.
- Important exams can be conducted on different dates, thereby reducing the number of working hours and physical interaction amongst students in schools.
- All team sports activity, as well as spectator sports, need to be put on hold. This would also imply a reduction in activity class hours.
- Providing parents with an option to opt for classroom teaching or online can help regulate the number of students in a classroom. Installing a camera in every classroom will allow students to study from home on a virtual platform as well.
- Art as an activity can be continued with social distancing in mind as it allows to stimulate the creativity of the children.
The necessity of teaching and learning with asynchronous platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L) and synchronous (Zoom) platforms also yield significant benefits, when both methods can be adopted.
Infrastructural changes
- Considering that WHO prescribes physical distancing of at least 1 metre between students in school, the removal of standard twin benches at school would be of utmost priority.
- The new classroom design should allow for increased circulation of fresh air indoors, and classes must be held outdoors as much as possible to reduce contamination.
- Sanitation stations should be installed in every classroom and vinyl floor markings can be used to ensure unidirectional movement in all passages and corridors.
Psychological changes
- It is necessary to show empathy towards the teachers; Working full time, managing multiple roles, grappling with technology and yet smiling and greeting the children to ensure a happy learning environment.
- As schools reopen under appropriate health and safety protocols, school leaders will confront a new set of challenges including syllabus timelines and teaching methodologies, remedial academic support, new sanitation guidelines and possibly closing schools again in response to public health needs.
